A bright and light apartment with glass furnishings and lots of color

On the top floor of a building in the heart of the city of Vicenza we have designed and built a total Living, from the kitchen to the bedroom, mixing finishes, materials and colors of our contemporary design furnishings. The main feature of the space is the extreme brightness, which is why we used glass and transparencies as the main ingredient, creating reflections and plays of light, combined with bright touches of color

Let’s start with the kitchen, a tailor-made project that had two important needs: to cover the boiler and adapt to the recess of the wall. We have created ceiling-high wall units for the boiler and sink. The bases in this part of the kitchen have been designed for a dishwasher and sink. The widest part has wall units and base units for the pantry, hob and oven. The color is a taupe brown with a white top in Fenix, the new material presented last year at Euro Cucina. It is a particular process of the surfaces treated with resins, extremely opaque, anti-fingerprint, pleasant and velvety to the touch. Next to the kitchen we have inserted the iconic FAB fridge by Smeg in glossy light-blue that colors and gives a vintage touch to the kitchen.

The living room is characterized by the white lacquered Air table that dominates the entire room. The perpendicular glass legs are the distinctive feature of this table branded Lago design and lighten the appearance not only of the product but also of the entire room with lots of brightness and reflections. The colorful chairs ironize, refresh and color the environment, contrasting the white of the table top.

Next to the table there is the Poliform storage cupboard in dark wood. It is an elegant and timeless piece of furniture with push-pull doors. It is precisely when you turn your gaze towards the sideboard that you notice the play of color on the wall. The hazelnut that dominates the walls of the room and the ceiling is interrupted by the powder pink color that draws a triangle right at the corner of the walls. This type of intervention is used to break up the monochrome, lighten the perception of the environment with a detail that does not invade the view of those in the room, but represents a style detail for eyes attentive to details.

Moving on to the living room we find the large and soft Nebula Nine sofa by Diesel made in collaboration with the company specialized in upholstery Moroso. Its shapes are designed by the soft cushions covered in linen that make up the seat and back. It is a sofa with maxi dimensions, it seems almost oversized and thanks to its depth you can sit or lie down comfortably. At the foot of the sofa is the carpet from the Manga collection signed by the international designer Patricia Urquiola for Gandia Blasco. It is a wool carpet, very colorful and with different types of processing and weaving of the fabric. This product is made entirely by hand like all GAN rugs. Sewn, knotted, embroidered, profiled, quilted, cut … it’s all a manual process that step by step makes the carpet take shape and the result is a work of artisanal art.

In front of the sofa, we have inserted a Lago suspended wall composition as a TV cabinet. We have chosen with the customer two 36e8 containers of different sizes, in a decentralized position from each other to give movement to the wall and with fronts in colored glossy glass. The colors chosen are powder pink and iron, in combination with two colors present in the carpet.

The corridor of the Living openspace area was dedicated to the ash gray Novamobili bookcase with the addition of a door container used as a shoe rack. We have obtained a niche from a recess in the wall to insert a white wardrobe also from the Novamobili company.

Let’s now move on to the bathroom. The space is very small, so we have placed the shower enclosure in a corner with two sides in extra clear glass to not detract from the brightness and convey a greater sense of space. Above the washer-dryer we made use of the available space by inserting two suspended Lago 36e8 container modules with glossy powder and straw colored glass door. In addition to their containment function, they create plays of light and reflections that expand the room. Finally, the washbasin cabinet is the Basica basin by Lago, a traditional glossy white ceramic washbasin which, precisely because of its simplicity, is perfect for a 360-degree Lago bathroom composition. In fact, it rests on a 36e8 container and is completed with a straw yellow shelf for objects and a mirror framed by the LagoLinea powder shelves.

The last room furnished by us is the bedroom. The room is extremely bright, so we have also inserted here the material that is the leitmotif of the whole house: the glass legs of the iconic Lago design Air bed. Its peculiarity is precisely that it is supported by four glass legs. of extra-clear crystal. When the sun filters into the room and runs into the slabs, it creates truly suggestive rainbow reflections. The headboard of the bed is made up of two padded items covered in removable cotton fabric in two versions: straw yellow and striped in neutral colors.

Next to the bed we opted for the lilac Morgana disassembled chest of drawers with glossy glass fronts. The seven drawers can be rotated and positioned as desired. As bedside tables, to continue the play of transparencies, we have included the Small Ghost Busters designed by Philippe Starck for Kartell. In this case, however, it is not glass but precious plastic which makes the product very resistant and light. To the left of the bed is the Novamobili wardrobe with four doors in white finish. Its design is very simple but elegant, a perfect choice to be easily combined with the other products in the room.

Finally, even the terrace needed a corner where you can eat or drink a coffee during a beautiful sunny day or a warm summer evening. Given the limited space, we opted for the Dr Na round little table with one central leg and the Frilly chairs with bright yellow pleated effect by Kartell.
